Welcome to the Canadian Sugar Institute
The Canadian Sugar Institute
(CSI) is the national, non-profit association representing Canadian sugar
manufacturers on nutrition and international trade affairs. The Institute
provides a science-based Nutrition Information Service and seeks fair
treatment on international trade policies and disputes. Ultimately,
the CSI strives to maintain a healthy and competitive sugar industry, which
will continue to benefit Canada.
CSI represents and is funded by Canadian producers of refined cane and beet sugar. CSI member companies include Lantic Inc. (Lantic Sugar and Rogers Sugar) and Redpath Sugar Ltd.
The Institute is directed by an elected Board of Directors, including
the CSI President and representatives from each of the CSI member companies.
The staff handle the routine affairs
of the Institute and regularly report to the Board.
History
The Institute was incorporated
in 1966 to support the industry in the areas of government relations,
education, research and information dissemination. These activities
are distinct from the competitive activities of each member company, such
as product-specific sales, marketing and promotion.
Strategic Priorities
To fulfill CSI's mission, CSI staff
focus on three strategic
priorities:
1. Nutrition
Information Service
2. International
Trade Issue Management
3. Member Services
